Eighth Graders Make Healthy Choices thumbnail161277
Students in Amy Rogan and Laurie Kaminsky's eighth grade English classes are reading “The Omnivore's Dilemma” by Michael Pollan and recently visited a local Stop and Shop supermarket to learn about the importance of healthy eating. The book delves into the connection between the food humans eat and our evolutionary backgrounds. During their excursion, students learned about the different supermarket departments and food origins. The trip included guided tours of the store and a scavenger hunt geared towards reading labels, meal planning and consumer choices.
