On Sunday Jan. 24, three high school robotics teams competed in the Adelphi University Qualifier Tournament.

The tournament included more than 20 school districts from Long Island, Westchester County and Puerto Rico, including over 40 student teams. Three teams, Ram 1, The Enterprise and Top Gear, worked diligently together in their VEX Robotics class on school evenings and weekends to build their robot for the competition.

During the tournament, the teams performed a multitude of tasks by designing and building a robot to play against other teams in game-based engineering challenges. The challenges included standard matches, robot skills and programming skills.

Rams 1, The Enterprise and Top Gear were victorious by making it to the quarterfinals with Top Gear participating in the semifinals.

The district and science department are very proud of their hard work, commitment and dedication to the competition. In addition, they would like to thank VEX Robotics teacher Ms. Perri for her devotion to her students and the STEM sciences.
