On Feb. 3, five West Hempstead High School students competed in the Long Island Science and Engineering Fair (LISEF).

LISEF is a not-for-profit organization who recognizes students in Nassau and Suffolk counties who want to become outstanding natural physical and behavioral scientists, engineers or mathematicians.

During the fair, students presented their work in biochemistry, physics and microbiology to local universities, scientific institutions and professionals in their related field.

Finalists will advance to the International Science and Engineering Fair held in Phoenix, Arizona.

The district would like to congratulate Liam Brew, Haley Gravalis, Fiona O’Neill, Tina Tudisco and Nathaniel Vaduthala for competing in this year’s Long Island Science and Engineering Fair.
