Museum of Black History

In honor of Black History Month, West Hempstead High School students created a museum featuring accomplishments of African Americans in U.S. history.

Students of Michael Paul and Stephanie Withopf’s Social Studies class researched historical figures, events or groups connected to Black history. Applying their research, students created exhibits utilizing posters, tri-folds, Prezi presentations, dioramas and books highlighting Maya Angelou, Emmet Till, “The Supremes”, Diana Ross and Michelle Obama.

In addition, each exhibit included a question for visitors to answer while touring the museum and learning about Black History.
