District Reads Across America in Honor of Dr. Seuss’ Birthday

In honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday and Read Across America Day, students of Chestnut Street, Cornwell Avenue and George Washington Elementary School celebrated by reading with their classmates.

At their respective schools, students participated in various Dr. Seuss themed activities while joining their friends and teachers in reading Dr. Seuss books such as “The Cat in the Hat,” “Horton Hears a Who” and “Green Eggs and Ham.”

While reading, Cornwell Avenue students received a special visit from “The Cat” himself where he greeted students, read to them and encouraged them to dream big and be creative. In addition, Superintendent of Schools John Hogan and Board of Education President Karen Brohm visit Chestnut Street kindergarteners to read them stories throughout the day.
