Chestnut Street Supports Autism Awareness

Amidst a sea of light blue, Chestnut Street School kindergartners showed their support for autism in recognition of Autism Awareness Day.
On Friday, students, teachers and administration gathered in the gymnasium to watch a video and read a story about autism. Kindergartners watched “What’s up with Nick,” a video by the Organization for Autism Research and read “It’s Okay to Be Different” by Todd Parr, sparking dialogue about autism and accepting the differences of their peers.
Following the assembly, kindergartners received a certificate for “Being a Good Friend to Kids with Autism” and participated in activities to further engage their understanding of autism.
