Statement from John Hogan, Superintendent of Schools, West Hempstead Union Free School District

In late April, the West Hempstead Union Free School District took the proactive step in conducting random water testing throughout its schools to test for elevated levels of lead concentration.

We have received the results of this testing, all of which came back within the guidelines established by the EPA.

To further our proactive approach, the district has decided to expand the testing to all units from which students might drink from (water fountains, classroom sinks, cafeteria sinks, nurse's station sinks, etc.). This testing will be conducted in the coming days. As the testing continues, the District will keep the community informed of all results.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Mr. John J. Hogan
