Teaching tolerance

Sophomores at West Hempstead High School learned about the 1994 Rwandan genocide firsthand when Daniel Trust, 26, a survivor of the massacre, visited the school.
Mr. Trust spoke to students about his experiences before, during and after the genocide, discussing the atrocities he witnessed and encouraging students to practice tolerance towards all. Following his presentation, he met with students to share stories about his perseverance and how he had overcome obstacles throughout his life.
Mr. Trust is a nationally recognized motivational speaker, entrepreneur and philanthropist. He is the founder of the Daniel Trust Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that recognizes and rewards students and teachers who contribute to improving humanity.
The district appreciates the time Mr. Trust spent sharing his experiences with students.
