Holocaust survivor Werner Reich visited West Hempstead Middle School on June 8 to educate sixth-graders about life during the Holocaust.

Mr. Reich discussed what the Holocaust was, who the victims were and how Nazi propaganda fueled this atrocity. During his presentation, he correlated the Nazis’ acts of hatred and images of propaganda to bullying, cyberbullying and being a bystander.

Mr. Reich also shared personal stories about his experiences living in Zagreb, Yugoslavia, having to learn Croatian and Serbian, wearing and carrying Jewish identification cards and being separated from his family.
