George Washington Gives Thanks

It was a time of gratitude and reflection as first-graders at George Washington Elementary School gave thanks to their teachers and families on Nov. 18 during their “Thanksgiving Treasures” presentation.

Dressed in handmade turkey costumes and feathered hats, the students performed songs such as “Give Thanks,” “Albuquerque Turkey” and “I’m an Indian Child” for an audience of family members and school staff in the auditorium. After every song, the classes shared what they were thankful for this holiday season, a list that included families, siblings and friends.

Following the ceremony, the students and their families celebrated in the cafeteria with snacks and juice.
