Enjoying a Holiday Tradition

After studying the history of Thanksgiving, Cornwell Avenue Elementary School first-graders held a celebration of the holiday on Nov. 23.

Wearing Pilgrim hats and Native American headdresses, the young students gathered in the cafeteria to present facts to their classmates about the first Thanksgiving, including how the Pilgrims traveled to America, the type of food they ate at the feast, and how the Native Americans used the land to survive.

Following their presentation, the students enjoyed turkey, cornbread, stuffing, juice and doughnut holes courtesy of the PTA. They also shared what they were thankful for this holiday.
