West Hempstead Soccer Duo Signs Letters

Surrounded by proud family members, school district administrators and their coach, West Hempstead High School seniors Lisette Palomo and Natalia Roberts, both standout varsity soccer players, signed National Letters of Intent on Feb. 3 to continue their athletic careers in college.

As five-year members of the girls varsity soccer team, the two seniors led the Rams to 43 wins, four playoff appearances and one conference championship.

Although a defender, Natalia has scored 11 goals and provided 10 assists in her soccer career. She was also awarded All-Class designation in her senior year by her teammates. She will attend the University of New Haven on academic and athletic scholarships in the fall.

With 72 points consisting of 49 goals and 23 assists, Lisette currently holds the second highest number of career points in West Hempstead history. Among her accomplishments, she has been named an All-County athlete for three consecutive years, was on the fourth team All-State as a senior, and was featured as one of Newsday’s Top 50 Girls Soccer Players to Watch. She also was voted the Nassau County Girls Varsity Soccer Player of the Year in Conference AB3. She will attend Iona College in the fall.

In attendance for the signing was girls varsity soccer coach Michael Scaturro. “We couldn’t be more proud of Lisette and Natalia,” he said, “and we wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors.”
