Tour the Medieval Manor Museum

Ninth graders at West Hempstead High School taught fellow students about self-sufficient living during the Middle Ages when they displayed their creative research at the school’s fourth annual Medieval Manor Museum on March 9.

In their Social Studies classes, the students learned about feudalism, manors and the daily lives of villagers, lords and farmers in the Middle Ages. They were then tasked with creating realistic replicas of manors where people could live and flourish on the land. The displays were made using posters, Styrofoam boards, food items and computer programs such as Minecraft to build manor houses, churches, farmlands, meadows and rivers.

At the museum, fellow students viewed the projects and voted for the manor that was best suited for self-sufficient living.
