Chestnut Street Students Make Their Mark

Kindergartners at Chestnut Street School “made their mark” by participating in International Dot Day on Sept. 15.

Throughout the day, classes read “The Dot” by Peter H. Reynolds, a story about a girl who begins a journey of self-discovery after a caring teacher challenges her to “make her mark.”

Motivated by the story, the students exercised their creativity in various dot related activities. Students traced their names with bingo stampers, counted water beads, tie-dyed coffee filters, colored paper headbands and formed circles with shaving cream. They also drew dots on classroom banners to signify that every student is different and unique.
