The English as a Second Language department in the West Hempstead School District hosted the annual ENL Thanksgiving Luncheon on Nov. 27. Middle and high school ENL students were treated to a classic Thanksgiving meal as a way for them to experience the American holiday.

On one side of the high school auditorium, students feasted on classic Thanksgiving dishes such as turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing and various side dishes. On the other, a pickup soccer game was underway, and the room was full of impending holiday excitement.

Special thanks to ENL staff including teachers Candice Walker, Nicholas DiBenedetto, Lili Ferguson, Lisa McCarthy and Madeline Valencia for organizing the event and offering their time to share in the tradition with students. Director of the ENL department and Chestnut Street School Principal Faith Tripp and WHHS Assistant Principal Michelle Lamb-Maron were also in attendance and helped to hand out food and treats to the students.
