On Wednesday, November 27, 2019, The National Honor Society, under the advisory of Ms. Lawson, went to The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island in New Hyde Park. This marks the fourth year the graduating NHS students spent the day before Thanksgiving cooking for families who are staying at the residence. The Ronald McDonald House provides housing, free of charge, for hundreds of families throughout the year whose children are battling a host of diseases. Patients typically receive life-saving treatment at area hospitals and then can come back to The Ronald McDonald House to spend time with their families. This year, our students prepared breakfast for the families. They made pancakes, french toast, quiche, blueberry and corn muffins, and cinnamon buns. It truly is a day of giving back and a humbling experience for our students.
