February 4, 2010

Dear Students, Parents/Guardians and Community Members,

Here is the most recent information we have on the H1N1 virus. H1N1 has not been an issue for us since the
end of October.  Daily attendance district wide has consistently been in the normal range of 94% present
each day.  That being said, the building principals continue to forward their attendance numbers to district
office each day for monitoring.

As of this date, the Nassau County Department of Health is reporting that things “remain quiet” in terms of
H1N1.  That is good news for all of us and we certainly hope that it remains so throughout the remainder of
the school year.

I continue to encourage you to follow the hygiene precautions as mentioned in previous correspondence and
as found in a number of the links below.  Additionally, please remember that if your child is ill and exhibiting
flu-like symptoms, the recommended precaution is to take the child to the doctor and not permit the child’s
return to school until the fever has broken for at least 24 hours without fever reducing medication.  The same
recommendations are in place for all of us as adults as well.

The school district will continue to work with the Nassau County Department of Health and will update this
site as necessary.  I thank all of you for your cooperation and support as we move through this health
concern.

Sincerely yours,

John J. Hogan

Superintendent of Schools
