Incoming kindergarten students and families had the opportunity to “pop” into the West Hempstead Union Free School District’s Chestnut Street School for an open house on Aug. 30.
Principal Faith Tripp welcomed new students by offering popcorn at the entrance as a thank you for “popping in” to the building prior to the first day of school on Sept. 4. Superintendent of Schools Dan Rehman, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Dina Reilly, Director of IEO, Music and Art Ryan Emmanuel-Cooke and Board of Education President Karen Brohm also greeted the students and their families as they joined the district.
The open house afforded the kindergarteners to explore their soon-to-be classrooms in addition to the building’s cafeteria, main office and library. A bus was also available in the school’s parking lot for attendees to view.
The district looks forward to welcoming the Class of 2032 for the first day of school!
