There are numerous reasons to go into public education. The impact you have on others is powerful, and you never know when an idea takes root. Below is one such example (names removed for obvious reasons). Hi, ---! It’s ---, the guy who was always late to class last year. I just wanted to reach out to you to let you know that I am insanely grateful for you and that I haven’t forgotten about you considering you are a huge factor in where I am today. I am currently working at ---, along with being a --- on the side. I know for a fact that anytime I think about high school, you always come up, and it just reminds me of how grateful I am and how much I genuinely miss our conversations and your advice.
