Students at Cornwell Avenue School in West Hempstead recently took part in the Kids Heart Challenge, a national program sponsored by the American Heart Association that promotes heart health and healthy lifestyle choices among children.
In support of heart health awareness, many students proudly wore red during their physical education classes. Throughout the event, students participated in a variety of engaging fitness activities designed to keep their hearts pumping while reinforcing the importance of staying active. During gym class, students practiced their basketball skills by making baskets. After each successful shot, they ran to center court to collect letters. Working together, students used the letters they gathered to form words, combining physical activity with literacy skills in a fun and meaningful way.
The event not only encouraged students to stay active, but also reinforced teamwork, perseverance, and the importance of making healthy choices. Cornwell Avenue is proud of its students for their enthusiasm and commitment to promoting heart health while celebrating learning.
