The West Hempstead School District’s elementary families kicked off the new school year with a sweet and welcoming afternoon during the recent “Popsicles with the Principals” family engagement event at Cornwell Avenue School.
The event drew a wonderful turnout of students and families from across the district, providing an opportunity to reconnect with school leaders, meet fellow members of the school community and celebrate the start of a new school year — all while enjoying a refreshing popsicle.
The event featured the principals of each of West Hempstead’s elementary schools: Ms. Patricia Scollo of Cornwell Avenue School, Ms. Jessica Rivera of George Washington School and Dr. Lisa Minicozzi of Chestnut Street School. The principals welcomed families and spent time talking with students and parents throughout the afternoon.
Beyond the popsicles and summertime fun, the event offered an opportunity for families to build relationships with their school leaders in a relaxed setting. The principals enjoyed connecting with students and families and welcoming everyone back for what promises to be an exciting year of learning and growth.
“Popsicles with the Principals” was a wonderful way to bring the West Hempstead elementary community together and set a positive tone for the school year ahead. The district looks forward to continuing to provide opportunities for meaningful family engagement throughout the year.
