Students at George Washington School on Stage

Students at George Washington School in the West Hempstead School District took part in several team-building exercises during their kickoff assembly on Sept. 21.

Each class showed their school spirit as they shared their class posters and cheered each other on. George Washington Principal Michelle Notti joined students in holding up their wristbands which read, Help Encourage & Respect Others (H.E.R.O.), and explained that each student can be a hero. The assembly also featured elements of the district’s Habits of Mind program, which nourishes students’ social-emotional learning and aims to improve the performance of students under challenging conditions.

Students also teamed up outside to play games such the Team Tarp Flip Race and Rubik’s Cube Relay in which they had to strategize on how to complete each task.
