Students in Class Singing

After months of construction and preparation, the West Hempstead School District’s pre-kindergarten center at Chestnut Street School officially opened on Jan. 31.

Funded by the district’s 2020-21 budget, administrators, board members and Chestnut Street Principal Faith Tripp greeted pre-K students and helped them get settled in. Students engaged in numerous morning activities that included going over the days of the week, months in a year and the weather outside. They also danced and took part in singalongs as part of their morning activities.

The district is excited to take another step in its educational journey toward providing programs for all West Hempstead students.
