On June 17, the West Hempstead School District held its annual Tenure Tea ceremony at West Hempstead Secondary School to celebrate newly tenured teachers, retirees and 20-year employees. Superintendent of Schools Dan Rehman spoke highly of each of the staff members while Board of Education President Karen Brohm presented each of them with plaques in recognition of their milestones. “Everyone that we’re recognizing this evening have chosen education as more than just a profession,” Mr. Rehman said. “They’ve embraced it as a calling. Each individual has played a vital role in our mission to educate and nurture every student.” Additionally, Mr. Rehman concluded the ceremony by honoring West Hempstead Secondary School Principal Joe Pumo for his years of service in the district and for his continued contributions to the school community. The district would like to thank its staff members for all of their hard work and for being dedicated members of the West Hempstead school community.
