Announcements for September 13, 2024

Student ID Distribution: Student ID cards will be distributed today during lunch periods in the cafeteria. ID cards must be worn at all times.

Extra Help: Extra help starts on Monday. Please ask teachers for the days and times of their Extra Help.

Attention Seniors: If you are interested in running for this year's Mr. or Miss West Hempstead, information can be found outside of Room 252 and on the Student Council Bulletin Board in the Main Circle. All applications are due this Thursday, September 12. There will also be a mandatory meeting for all approved candidates on Friday, September 13, at dismissal, in Room 252.

Attention Seniors: The SAT is being offered to Seniors during the school day on Tuesday, October 22 at 7:55 AM. If you are a Senior and would like to take the SAT on this day, please register in the School Counseling Office on Friday during lunch periods. THE DEADLINE TO REGISTER IS FRIDAY.

Attention Seniors: On Monday, September 23 at 7 PM, there will be a Mandatory Open Campus meeting for Seniors who are interested in obtaining a permit to park on school grounds or in leaving the school campus for lunch. You must bring a parent or guardian to the meeting. Until that meeting, no student can leave the building for lunch.

Attention Juniors: There will be a brief meeting at dismissal today in Room 229 to discuss the class theme. Come share your ideas.

Attention Sophomores: The first meeting of the Class of 2027 is today at dismissal in the Cafeteria to pick a class theme for this year.

SADD: The first club meeting will be held on Monday, September 16, at dismissal, in Room 107. New members.

Next Gen Medicine Club: Are you interested in a career in the medical field? Do you want to spread the word about good health and careers in the medical field to elementary and middle school students? Come to the first meeting of the Next Gen Medicine Club on Monday, September 16, at dismissal, in Room 247 to learn about this exciting club.

National STEM Honor Society: The first meeting of this year's National STEM Honor Society will be on Tuesday, September 17 at dismissal in Room 247. All current members must attend. Also, if you are interested in joining and you are in Grades 10-12, please stop by to get more information.

Rampage: The first meeting of the school's newspaper, Rampage, will be on Tuesday, September 17 at dismissal in the North Library.

Wandering Minds Club: The first club meeting will be on Wednesday, September 18 at dismissal in Room 129. Join us for creativity and fun surrounding anime, comic books, art, music and movies.

Debate Club: The first meeting of the Debate Club will be on Wednesday, September 18 at dismissal in Room 210.

Picture Day for Grades 9-11: Prestige Portraits will be here on September 16 and September 17 to take school pictures for students in Grades 9-11.

DAT Club: The DAT Club, which is the Dignity and Tolerance Club, helps spread kindness around our school. All students in Grades 7 and 8 who are interested in joining this club should meet Mrs. Lubliner every Wednesday, at dismissal, in Room 38. The first meeting is on Wednesday, September 11.

Drama Club Grades 7/8: Anyone interested in singing, dancing, acting, set design, costumes, or any part of the production of a musical, then Drama 7/8 is for you. Come to the first meeting on Friday, September 13 at dismissal in the Auditorium on the South Side. All are welcome to attend.

Comic Book Graphic Novel Club for Grades 7 and 8: The first meeting will be on Tuesday, September 17 at dismissal in Room 37. If you are interested in creating a comic book or just reading one, stop by. Ms. Walker has new comics, graphic novels and mangas.

Homework Club: If you would like a space to do homework or to ask for assistance with homework, stop by the Homework Center on the following days: Mondays with Ms. Spallino in Room 15, Wednesdays with Ms. Murphy in Room 16, and Thursdays with Ms. Rogan in Room 219.
