ENL students celebrate cultures during luncheon in West Hempstead

English as a New Language students in the West Hempstead School District gathered for an international luncheon on June 2 to celebrate the progress and achievements they made during the school year.

The event brought together both middle and high school ENL students in the secondary school’s gymnasium, who were tasked with bringing in native dishes to create a buffet. The varied cuisine featured traditional foods from several geographic regions, including El Salvador, Honduras, South America and several Caribbean countries.

Along with enjoying a variety of ethnic foods, some students engaged with teachers and staff to discuss their accomplishments.
