West Hempstead Secondary School’s Class of 2023 celebrated Ram Culture one last time during their graduation ceremony at the Tilles Center at LIU Post on June 25.
The commencement ceremony included speeches by the valedictorian and salutatorian, twin sisters Gloria Guerrier and Victoria Guerrier, along with members of the district’s administration.
“To be where I am today, I had to learn how to conquer such feelings of doubt, fear and apprehension,” Gloria Guerrier said. “The simple secret — I found the courage to commit. I swallowed down the burning knot beating in my chest and I fought away the fears and whispers of doubt of the worst to come. I worried less about my daunting course load and took it one day at a time.”
“What I’d like to share with everyone here today is that you have to dream,” Victoria Guerrier said. “Your dreams should scare you. They should be so big and unrealistic that other people call you crazy. That means you’re dreaming the right way. You have to want it more than anyone else.”
The district wishes the West Hempstead Secondary School’s Class of 2023 all the best in their future endeavors.
