West Hempstead Secondary School’s Rams varsity basketball team was recognized for their historic season during the board of education’s March 19 meeting.
The Rams won their first Nassau County championship since 2003 when they defeated Carle Place Frogs 54-45 at Farmingdale State College on March 1. The Rams’ historic playoff run continued on March 4 when they defeated the Pierson Whalers, 75-54, at Center Moriches High School, winning their first Long Island championship.
Each student athlete received a certificate of recognition from Board President Karen Brohm. The district congratulates the Rams on their historic season.
