Students, teachers hit the ground running in West Hempstead

On Sept. 5, the West Hempstead School District welcomed new and returning students for the 2024-25 school year.

The students kicked off their first day with enthusiasm as they arrived at their schools ready for a new academic year. They were eager to return, see old friends and meet their new teachers. Superintendent of Schools Dan Rehman also greeted new and returning students throughout the district.

For the pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students at Chestnut Street, the first day was made extra special thanks to a warm welcome from administrators and staff. Students settled into their classrooms quickly and participated in several activities to get to know their teachers and one another.
