West Hempstead’s broadcasting students awarded by state assembly

On June 2, West Hempstead Secondary School broadcasting students Camilo Gil, Emilio Diaz, Steve Parada and Kevin Tator were awarded by State Assemblyman Ed Ra for winning his annual video submission contest.

This year's contest, “Dear Freshman Me,” provided the students with the opportunity to reflect on the lessons they have learned, the moments that were important to them, and what they wish they would have known prior to starting their high school journey. The prompt was: “Hindsight is 20/20. What advice can you share to help future freshman have a smoother transition, worry less, experience greater success and to feel more confident?”

West Hempstead’s broadcasting students responded with a video segment entitled “Senior Advice” in which the secondary school’s seniors passed down words of wisdom to their younger peers.
