Members of the board of education, administrators, teachers and staff in the West Hempstead School District gathered at West Hempstead Secondary School for the annual Superintendent’s Conference Day on Aug. 27.
Educators enjoyed breakfast in the cafeteria and mingled before meeting with the district’s administrators in the secondary school’s auditorium. Superintendent of Schools Dan Rehman commended everyone in the district who worked during the summer to ensure that the summer programs were a huge success, and the facilities were ready for the start of the 2025-26 school year. He also shared the district’s theme for the new school year, “Rising Together: Our Purpose, Our Practice, Our Promise.” He also emphasized the importance of creating learning environments where students are seen, heard and challenged.
Dina Reilly, the assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction, shared all of the district’s academic achievements over the past year and urged all staff members to follow pathways geared toward excellence. During the remainder of the day, teachers participated in department meetings and spent time preparing to welcome their students on Sept. 2.
