The West Hempstead School District is proud to announce that West Hempstead Secondary School’s Broadcasting students recently received an honorable mention in the 2025 NPR Podcast Challenge.
Last year, Secondary School teacher Ms. Rachel Reyes entered her students Jackie Perez, Victoria Covino and Kianna Maldonado in the challenge. Now graduates of the Class of 2025, the group was responsible for planning the podcast concept in addition to scripting, editing, and recording. During the podcast, the group discussed their experiences in the school’s Virtual Enterprise program.
“They developed a variety of skills while having fun and collaborating,” Ms. Reyes said. “I am very proud of their work.”
The district congratulates our Broadcasting students on earning this distinction.
