The West Hempstead School District is proud to announce that West Hempstead Secondary School junior Michelle Cherian has received national recognition for her outstanding commitment to community service and leadership.
Michelle was honored through the 8th Annual National Community Service Awards program, which celebrates students across the country for making a meaningful impact in their communities while supporting the United Nations’ Global Goals — 17 initiatives designed to create a better world by 2030.
In addition to earning a National Award distinction, Michelle was recognized as an inspiration to fellow students through her dedication to service and community involvement. The award program also highlights student efforts connected to initiatives such as Zero Hunger, Zero Waste, leadership development, and state-specific service honors.
As part of the recognition, Michelle received a personalized award packet and a Student Service Impact Resume, which showcases her commitment, collaboration, leadership, and communication skills. These resumes are designed to help students highlight their service experiences in future college and job applications.
The National Community Service Awards are presented through InnerView, an organization dedicated to expanding student leadership opportunities and encouraging youth involvement in community service initiatives nationwide.
West Hempstead Secondary School applauds Michelle for her compassion, leadership, and commitment to helping others. Her achievements reflect the school community’s dedication to fostering civic responsibility and empowering students to make a positive difference both locally and beyond. The district commends Michelle on this outstanding accomplishment and well-deserved national recognition.
