Ten student musicians in the West Hempstead School District

Ten student musicians in the West Hempstead School District are going to participate in the Nassau Music Educators Association’s All-County ensembles. Throughout January, several concerts are planned to showcase the student’s talents.

All-County selection represents one of the highest achievements in music for students. Performers are chosen based on their scores at the New York State School Music Association Solo Evaluation Festival and teacher recommendations.

The district’s All-County students include:

Sophia Ciminera, Grade 10 (vocal)

Juliana Cook, Grade 7 (band)

Rory Gallo, Grade 11 (vocal)

In addition to their All-County accomplishment, four West Hempstead students were also selected to perform in the Long Island String Festival Association’s festivals.

“I am very proud of the artistic accomplishments of our talented musicians at West Hempstead,” said Laila Sales, the district’s director of fine, performing and culinary arts. “This honor is a reflection of our students' tireless work ethic, perseverance, and strong commitment of their teachers: Mr. Ben Coleman (band); Dan DiPasquale (orchestra); Mr. Wayne Heckler (band); and Mrs. Theresa Nardo (vocal). Whom, I would like to commend them for their support, which is greatly appreciated.”
