Good morning , Family ID is now open for the fall season for athletics for grades 9-12. Please do not wait to register- it’s to your advantage to register early. The nurse is the only person to clear students to participate in athletics. The nurses are in for only a few days this summer. After August 22nd the nurses are not in until school starts. You won’t get cleared to play. There is a New York State practice requirement to participate in a game. All sports require 6 practices with the exception of football, it’s 10 practices. Register now for FamilyID if you want to play this fall sports season. Thank you.

Hello, I hope everyone is enjoying their summer break. The fall season for athletics will be upon us very soon. Here is some important information for everyone if your child plans on playing a sport in the secondary school- either grades 7&8 or 9-12. FamilyID (online registration platform for athletics) will be open for grades 7&8 from August 7th-August 18th. Family ID will be open for grades 9-12 from July 31st-August 18th. Please check the district website ( athletics page). The start dates are listed for each sports season, practice schedule for the beginning of the season is posted, SportsYou codes are posted, the physical form to participate in athletics can be downloaded, etc. It is very important to register when FamilyID is open. The nurse is the only person who can clear students to participate in athletics. The nurse will be in the following dates during the summertime: August 8th, August 10th, August 21st and August 22nd. Very important to submit your information/paperwork through FamilyID in a timely fashion. There is a New York State practice requirement to be eligible to participate in athletics. All sports require 6 practices prior to a scrimmage or game with the exception of football. Football requires 10 practices prior to a scrimmage or game. If your child does not meet the practice requirement they will not be eligible to play in a game. If your child needs a physical (every student needs a current physical to participate in athletics; physical must be dated from November 22, 2022 to the present) please make the appointment now with your physician. The SportsYou (an app that is used to communicate information with students and parents) codes are also posted on the website for grades 7&8 and 9-12. If you have any questions, please email me at cmistretta@whufsd.com or call the athletic office at 516 390-3253. Have a great summer.

Hello, If your child wants to play a sport at West Hempstead Secondary School (Grades 9-12) and you recently moved to West Hempstead School District or your child attended a different high school last year, a transfer form must be submitted to BOCES in order for your child to participate. If a transfer form is not submitted to BOCES your child cannot tryout for any of the sports seasons. If you have any questions please email Mr. Mistretta, Athletic Director at cmistretta@whufsd.com. Thank you.
