The West Hempstead School District celebrated School Board Recognition Week during their monthly meeting on Oct. 19.

West Hempstead High School’s band kicked off the evening with a musical performance. Student representatives from each school then presented the district with gifts and thanked them for their efforts of supporting everyone in the district. Students from George Washington and Cornwell Avenue made their own video presentations to celebrate each board member.

“On behalf of the Board of Education, we want to say thank you for everything you all have given us today,” said Board President Karen Brohm. “It truly is an honor for us to serve all of you and be able to be here and to make sure that our children and our community thrives.”

The New York State School Boards Association’s School Board Recognition Week spans from Oct. 18-22. The district wishes to thank all the board members for their dedication to the community.
