At-Home Test Kit Distribution

Dear West Hempstead Families,

 

We will begin our at-home test kit distribution on Monday, January 10. 

 

If you completed the test kit survey and expressed your interest in obtaining one kit per child, please understand the following regarding the COVID AT-HOME TESTS:

 

These home kits are optional and are for your use in testing your child at home. There is no requirement to utilize the test kit for your child to attend school. The kits are not part of a "test to stay program."

 

Test kits will NOT be sent home with children. Please have a photo ID with you. You do not need to get out of your car. You can pull up to the front door, and someone will greet you. You will pick up the kits at the Middle School following the schedule below.

 

Please note:

• If your child tests positive using an at-home test, please report the information to https://app.nassaucountyny.gov/doh/IandQOrderRequest/. You can send a copy of the quarantine letter to your child's teacher or building administration. Also, please schedule a PCR test as we know they are 98% accurate whereas at-home tests are not as accurate.
• This test may not be used to clear your child from quarantine after exposure due to reliability concerns with home test kits.
• The test kits have an expiration date of January 31, 2022.
• Only one kit per student will be distributed.
