I am writing to inform you of an important new policy that the Board of Education adopted on July 1, 2025, which will take effect immediately.
Policy 5130 - Student's Personal Electronic Devices
📱 NEW POLICY ALERT: Student Electronic Devices 📱
Starting this school year, we're implementing new guidelines for internet-enabled devices (such as smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches) to help create a more focused learning environment and support student well-being.
Here's what families need to know:
🏫 Elementary: No internet-enabled devices at school 🏫 Middle School: Devices must be silenced and stored in lockers or designated areas 🏫 High School: Devices must be silenced and stored in lockers or designated areas
✅ Exceptions include:
• Students with IEPs or 504 plans
• Healthcare management needs (with documentation)
• Translation services
• Emergency situations
• Students caring for family members (case-by-case)
