The district welcomed staff members for New Teacher Orientation on Aug. 26 and 27. Following welcoming remarks from Superintendent of Schools Daniel Rehman, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Dina Reilly and Assistant Superintendent for Business and Operations Joel Press, attendees were familiarized with district procedures, programs and resources.
The orientation also included professional development workshops as well as meetings with mentors and administrators and a bus tour of the district.

The district hosted a Community Welcome event outdoors at West Hempstead High School on Aug. 27. In a collaboration between the district, PTA, PTSA, SEPTA and PARP organizations, an afternoon of fun was provided for students and families.
In addition to a barbecue, the day featured activities including art stations, a book swap, lawn games, a mindfulness table and a social media photo booth. Students of all ages enjoyed spending time with friends, meeting new peers and getting to know members of the administration, Board of Education and faculty. The event was designed to provide a warm welcome to all district families prior to the start of the 2021-22 school year.
