Tomorrow is the district’s budget vote and trustee election! Please remember to vote between 7 a.m.-9 p.m. at West Hempstead Secondary School in the North Gymnasium. All information related to the proposal can be found on the district’s website. As a reminder, the proposed 2023-24 budget carries a tax levy increase of 1.99%, which is BELOW the district’s allowable tax levy cap of 2.43%.

According to Newsday, the average spending increase in Nassau County is 6.01%. West Hempstead is at 70% of the average with our 4.2% increase. Put another way, the average spending increase in Nassau County is 43% higher than our proposed spending increase.

The budget funds several new facility improvement projects not included in the bond work that will further address our buildings' aging infrastructure. The district’s goal is to ensure that our buildings continue to be healthy, safe and innovative places for our children to learn.

There are only three days left to pay for the athletic awards dinner!
The dinner is for any student that played on a boys varsity and junior varsity team, a girls varsity and junior varsity team. Parents and Guardians are welcome to attend the dinner.
Join us as we celebrate our student-athletes this year at the athletics awards dinner on Wednesday, June 7th, at the Plattdeutsch Restaurant. Check-in time will be 5:45 pm, and the buffet will be open at 6:00 pm. The awards ceremony will begin at 6:45 pm.
This year there will only be one dinner for the varsity and JV teams. The dinner cost is $45 per person (only cash and exact change will be accepted). The money should be brought to the athletic office, and you will have until May 12th to pay for the dinner. If you have any questions, please call the athletic office at 390-3253. Thank you.
